Best automatic soap dispensers: what to look for before you buy
A buying checklist for automatic soap dispensers, with what eBay buyers actually paid. We do not stock this type, so the advice is not steering you to our own product.
Choose by sensor reliability, tank size and what soap it can handle. A dispenser that sprays too slowly or jams on thick soap gets taken off the sink fast.
On 2026-11-01, eBay buyers paid a median of $27.54 for automatic soap dispensers (search "automatic soap dispenser"), across 818 sold listings. It is a market read, not a quote. Jump to the search shortcuts or read the 7 checks first.

What to look for: 7 checks
These are the points that separate a good automatic soap dispensers from a poor one, in the order they usually matter.
- Sensor reliabilityan infrared sensor with a range of about 3 to 8 cm works reliably. One with a very wide range triggers when you reach for the tap.
- Dispensing modefoam pumps use thinner soap diluted with water, liquid pumps take plain liquid soap. Check which one your soap suits.
- Tank size300 to 500 ml means refilling every few weeks. Smaller tanks need constant top-ups.
- PowerAA batteries run months of low use. A USB rechargeable base is tidier but needs charging every few weeks.
- Adjustable volumethree dose settings help you avoid soap wasted on your wrists.
- Pump spout designa spout that is removable and a nozzle that is easy to rinse resists clogging from dried soap.
- Footprint and mountinga wide base resists tipping, and a wall-mounted bracket frees up counter space.
The mistake to avoid
- Foam dispensers clog if you pour in thick liquid soap undiluted. Follow the dilution line, or the pump jams within weeks.

On 2026-11-01, eBay buyers paid a median of $27.54 for automatic soap dispensers (search "automatic soap dispenser"), across 818 sold listings. That is real money changing hands on eBay, which makes it a useful anchor when you compare asking prices elsewhere.
How to read it: the count is the sold-result total eBay shows for a search of sold and completed listings, and the median is from the first page of prices (about 60 listings, new and used mixed). It is not an Amazon price, it ignores shipping and condition, and it does not say what a given product is worth. A different spec will sit well above or below it.

Questions
Can I fill it with any soap?
Foam types want thin foaming soap or diluted liquid soap. Thick gel and lotion-style soaps clog the pump.
Why does it keep dispensing on its own?
Usually the sensor catches a reflection from a glossy counter or a tap. Moving it a few centimetres or putting it on a mat often fixes it.
