Method: how we read prices and review products

One page that every other page links to: where the numbers come from, what we check, what we turn down and what we do not claim.

Prices are dated eBay sold-listing medians; products are screened on supplier listings, not tested. We have reviewed 1,230 listings and rejected 939.

How we read prices

Each figure on a market page is the median of the prices on the first page of eBay sold-and-completed results for one search, about 60 listings, with new and used mixed. Beside it we print the count of sold listings and the date of the read. A median of a first page is a screen of what buyers paid in that window. It is not a price list, a forecast or a quote, and it covers eBay only.

We keep every dated read, so a page can show how a median moved between reads. A change appears in a page's change log only when two reads differ by 10% or more. Right now the library holds 2,458 product types across 5 read dates (2026-11-01 to 2026-11-06).

What we check before a product is sold or recommended

A supplier listing is rejected, and the reason recorded by class, when it fails any of these. So far we have reviewed 1,230 listings and 291 passed.

  • Identity: it must be the same kind of product as the type being read.
  • Risk: no powered or battery devices with radios, heated appliances, health or medical claims, children's products, skin-contact cosmetics, knives, load-bearing gear without a stated rating, or branded and licensed designs.
  • Photos: at least two clean images, with no banners, logos, overlaid text or size infographics.
  • Spec: a supplier spec we can describe honestly. A material word (leather, stainless, waterproof) appears only if the supplier states it.
  • Economics: the price must clear our margin floor and stay within 1.5 times the measured sold median.
  • Duplication: not a repeat of something we already stock.

Where products ship from

Each product page states the warehouse the supplier lists (US or China) and a delivery window taken from the supplier's published handling and transit times. We are a US-based company. We do not describe resold goods as made in the USA, and we do not state a delivery speed we cannot source.

Dates and change logs

A page shows "read" and "checked" dates only for work that was done on that date. A page's change log lists real differences between two dated reads and is absent when nothing moved. Pages are not touched up to refresh a date.

What we do not claim

No invented reviews, ratings, scarcity or urgency. No "tested" or "hands-on" claims. No was-prices. Affiliate links, where a page has them, are labelled and carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener". Where we do not stock a product, the page says so.

How to cite us and reuse the data

Author: Vincent Wesley Couey, ORCID 0009-0005-6869-308X. The sold-price data is open under CC BY 4.0 on the data page, as CSV and JSON. Each page carries a ready-made citation with its address and read date.

Questions

Where do the prices on Nuva Supply pages come from?

From eBay sold-and-completed listings. For each product type we read the first page of results, about 60 sold listings, and take the median price and the sold count. We have read 2,458 product types on 5 dates between 2026-11-01 and 2026-11-06.

Do you test the products you describe?

No. Pages describe what a supplier states and what buyers paid. We say "listing review", never "tested". Where a product page shows a measurement, it is the supplier's stated spec.

What does it mean when a listing is rejected?

We review supplier listings before we sell anything. Of 1,230 listings reviewed so far, 291 passed every check and 939 did not. The reasons are grouped by class on each page; we do not name the seller.

How do I report a mistake?

Use the contact page. A confirmed correction is fixed on the page. The date on a page moves only when its data does.

What we sell, under these rules

Three products from our store. Each page states its source, its ship-from warehouse and its delivery window.
