What this check means

Supplier searches return accessories, replacement parts, bundles and lookalikes next to the product people actually search for. A listing passes this check only if it is the same kind of product as the type we read the market for. If a type sells at a median of $30 on eBay, a $2 accessory for that product is not evidence we can sell the product.

Counts from our review records as of 2026-11-07. Full criteria: the method page.

How you can check this on any listing

  • Read the title and the first photo together: do they show the same thing?
  • Look for words like "for", "compatible with", "replacement" or "refill": they usually mean an accessory, not the product.
  • Check what is in the box. A bundle of small parts is not the product in the hero photo.
  • Compare the size and quantity to what you actually want, not to the photo.

Questions

How many listings did you turn down because of different kind of product?

403 of 924 rejections (44%) were turned down mainly for this reason, out of 1,212 supplier listings reviewed. A listing that fails more than one check is counted once, under its main reason.

Does this mean those suppliers or categories are bad?

No. We chose which listings to review from our own searches, so the counts show our filter at work. They are not a rating of any supplier, seller or category.

How can I run this check myself?

Check what is in the box. A bundle of small parts is not the product in the hero photo. Compare the size and quantity to what you actually want, not to the photo.
