What this check means

We do not list products where an error costs more than a refund: battery or radio devices, heated appliances, anything with health or medical claims, children's products, skin-contact cosmetics, knives, load-bearing gear without a stated rating, and branded or licensed designs. A listing that touches any of these is turned down, even if the product looks fine.

Counts from our review records as of 2026-11-07. Full criteria: the method page.

How you can check this on any listing

  • Does it contain a battery, a charger or a mains plug? Those carry certification and fire risks.
  • Does the listing make a health, therapy or "medical grade" claim that no document supports?
  • Is it for a child, or in contact with skin? Those need testing we cannot see on a listing.
  • If it carries a character, team or brand mark, the seller may not have the right to sell it.

Questions

How many listings did you turn down because of safety or brand risk?

261 of 924 rejections (28%) were turned down mainly for this reason, out of 1,212 supplier listings reviewed. A listing that fails more than one check is counted once, under its main reason.

Does this mean those suppliers or categories are bad?

No. We chose which listings to review from our own searches, so the counts show our filter at work. They are not a rating of any supplier, seller or category.

How can I run this check myself?

Does it contain a battery, a charger or a mains plug? Those carry certification and fire risks. Does the listing make a health, therapy or "medical grade" claim that no document supports? Is it for a child, or in contact with skin? Those need testing we cannot see on a listing. If it carries a character, team or brand mark, the seller may not have the right to sell it.
